Light-O-Rama Sequencer Application 2025

The 2025 Certified Sequencer Application period is open from now through January 31, 2025! Acceptance into the Light-O-Rama Sequencer Program includes sequencing mentorship opportunities, connections with other sequencers to collaborate on shows, and the potential to work on larger scale projects in the future.

Applicants will be selected for further consideration based on the quality of their work for both smart RGB and AC lights, as well as musical synchronization and composition in sequencing. Formal music education and/or prior involvement in musical activities in school (or current involvement as an adult) is required.

Disclaimer: This is not a "new sequencer/basics" training program (different classes and opportunities exist if this fits your situation). This Light-O-Rama program is designed to take sequencers with a strong music and artistic foundation to a professional level through additional training with sequencing.

Please describe your process for creating timing grids and rhythm mapping when you begin a sequence and any modifications you make to the timing grid before beginning to sequence.
Please describe how you approach rhythm mapping a sequence. Do you sequence a whole musical line start to finish? What musical line do you choose to work on first? Do you sequence all props per section of a song to completion? Do you have some other methodology?

I understand that musical experience is required in order to apply, and I will not be invited to interview if I do not meet this prerequisite. I understand that this is an application and not all candidates may be accepted. I understand that Light-O-Rama is looking for a specific type of sequencer for this program, and it is not a negative reflection of my personal sequencing skills if I am not invited to interview this year.
